CONCEPT
This Fashion performance explores the complex topics of modern-day philosophy such as idolisation, nihilism and existentialism, in the current day society. Using the dramatic haute couture pieces by John Galliano the rich narrative takes the audience on a fulfilling journey through the Lincoln Cathedral, deconstructing the modern idol, exposing the emptiness behind society's obsessions with power, image and belief. Based on the Fables story ‘The Man and the Wooden God.’
The 15-minute performance will begin at 9pm as natural lights fade, marking the shift from divine illumination to artificial glow. A metaphor for the modern world’s turn from faith to fabricated icons. The performance is aimed towards younger adults to help inspire and change their perception on life to achieve greater things than to just follow the crowd.
